Georeference a 3D Model in SuperMap iDesktopX
7EXP 2025.07.28
I have a 3D model in *skp format exported from SketchUp, but it doesn't have any coordinate information. How can I georeference or manually position this model to the correct location in SuperMap iDesktopX?

Is it possible to manually position or georeference the model within the 3D scene? If so, what’s the best way to do this — can I adjust its location, rotation, and elevation to match reference layers like an OSM basemap?

you can first import *.skp file into a datasource and add the model dataset in a scene. You can add a basemap as reference layer. ( Figure 1)

If you already know the approximate location of the model, use a batch translation to move it nearby ( Figure 2) , then turn on editing and adjust it manually. ( Figure 3)

If the model contains many components, only batch translation is appropriate—manual moves are impractical
